The first thing is to evidently describe the procedure to be mapped; then assign the limitations of the process. What are the triggers that start the process? What are the outputs or costs that end the process? The next step is to make a decision on the executive level to be incorporated in the process map. Is this a process that cut diagonally business units, or is it restricted to a solitary production unit? Does the process engage in numerous purposes or just one? How many work groups are concerned?

Another significant and complex step in process mapping is to establish the level of aspect that will be incorporated in the process map.
